Hope your weekend has been great! We’re here today to recap some of the biggest stories in Geekdom and Pop Culture from over the weekend! Without any further ado, let’s jump into it!

TV & MOVIE NEWS

  • If Josh Brolin’s social media posts wasn't enough proof for you that Deadpool 2 production was underway, Mr Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds took to social media to assure the public that he was hard at work trying to recruit more X-men for the sequel.  Deadpool 2 is slated to hit Theaters June 1, 2018.

  • Wonder Woman continues to perform well at the box office. Despite being knocked out to of the #1 slot in the US by Cars 3, Warner Brother’s Amazonian Warrior Princess managed to bring in $35 million in its third weekend, passing the $500 million worldwide.

  • Predictions for Spider-man Homecoming’s opening box office take were released this week. Deadline’s reporting that the joint Sony / Marvel Studios film is estimated to bring in between $90 and $108 Million in its opening weekend at the box office on July 7. If Tom Holland’s solo film outing as the friendly neighborhood web-slinger does cruise past the $100 million mark, it will make Spider-Man immediately be one of the summer's biggest movies.


COMIC BOOK NEWS  

  • After the release of this week's Dark Days: The Forge, DC Comics has unveiled a preview of Dark Days: The Casting, brought by the same creative team as The Forge. Additionally, DC has announced one shot tie-ins. DC’s Dark Days all lead into DC’s Dark Nights: Metal event set for release this Fall.

  • More Star Wars comics are on the way. And they aren’t being published by who you might think...IDW Publishing, the San Diego-based comics company is set to bring Star Wars Adventures, to fans of all-ages. IDW has announced the initial creative team and storylines via Comic Book Resources for the new ongoing series telling Star Wars stories that are billed as “both canon and accessible.” Star Wars Adventures #1 is scheduled for release on Sept. 6,

  • Disney has announced that Jack ‘The King’ Kirby will be named as a ‘Disney Legend’ at this years upcoming D23 Expo in July. The D23 expo is often where Disney unveils some of their largest announcement ahead of their various film and tv properties from Disney Animation, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. Kirby will be honored posthumously as a Disney Legend, a hall of fame designation awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the company’s success.
